Making history in the Middle East and Africa, Dubai proudly welcomed over 3,000 athletes for the HYROX DXB International Fitness Championship. Significantly, 15% of these athletes traveled internationally to compete in this prestigious event held at the Dubai World Trade Centre, in collaboration with the Dubai Sports Council (DSC).
The Hyrox Championship stands as the pinnacle of indoor fitness competitions. Athletes vied for honors in a diverse range of categories such as professional men and women, doubles (both mixed and gender-specific), singles, and a special category dedicated to athletes of determination.
Notable mentions from the championship include the stellar performance of American athletes Ryan Kent and Laurin Wix who clinched the top spots in the men’s and women’s professional categories, respectively. Their achievements were closely followed by an array of international talent, bringing together a medley of fitness elites from the UK, Sweden, Canada, and France.
Saeed Hareb, the Secretary-General of DSC, emphasized Dubai’s stature, “Hosting the Championship solidifies Dubai’s position as a go-to destination for world-class events. Our Emirate attracts a plethora of international attendees, and it’s always a pleasure to see such a mix.”
Christian Totzke, Founder and Administrative Partner of Hyrox Championships, praised Dubai, stating, “Dubai’s seamless processes and unmatched hospitality made organizing this event a breeze. It’s truly the best destination for such major championships.”
Echoing similar sentiments, Rayan Agha, CEO of Hyrox Championships, added, “With support from the DSC, we were thrilled to bring this Championship to the Middle East for the very first time. We saw participation from athletes across 165 countries, truly making this a global event.”
Originating in Germany in 2017, the Hyrox Championship has now expanded globally, touching base in major cities like Madrid, Hong Kong, and New York. Dubai will proudly hold this event for the next three years, offering athletes an unparalleled competitive experience. Successful participants here will then gear up for the World Championship in Nice, France, in June 2024.
