Rise of Dubai’s tourism industry reached a remarkable milestone in 2024, attracting 16.79 million international tourists between January and November. This represents a 9% increase compared to the 15.37 million visitors during the same period in 2023. The steady growth underscores Dubai’s enduring appeal as a global travel destination, offering a mix of luxury, cultural heritage, and modern attractions.

Consistent Growth Month by Month

Visitor numbers showed consistent growth throughout the year. January alone welcomed 1.77 million tourists, followed by 1.9 million in February. March and April saw 1.51 million and 1.5 million visitors, respectively. Over the summer months, June brought in 1.19 million visitors, while July and August each recorded 1.31 million. By November, Dubai hit its highest monthly total of the year with 1.83 million visitors, showcasing its year-round appeal to global travelers.

Where Visitors Are Coming From

Western Europe emerged as the leading source market, accounting for 20% of all visitors (3.3 million), followed by South Asia with 17% (2.85 million). The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries contributed 15% (2.5 million), while the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and Eastern Europe provided 14% (2.35 million). Other key regions included the Middle East and North Africa (12%), North and Southeast Asia (10%), and the Americas (7%). This diverse visitor base highlights Dubai’s ability to attract tourists from all corners of the globe.

A Booming Hospitality Sector

Dubai’s hospitality sector has grown in tandem with tourism. By the end of November 2024, the city boasted 153,390 hotel rooms across 828 establishments, up from 149,685 rooms in 820 establishments the previous year. The total number of booked hotel nights exceeded 39.19 million, marking a 3% increase from 2023, with guests staying an average of 3.6 nights. Accommodation options are plentiful, with 5-star hotels making up 35% of the total inventory, followed by 4-star hotels, 1–3-star properties, and a mix of luxury and mid-level hotel apartments.
