UAE’s first casino resort developer reveals multi-hotel pipeline in Ras Al Khaimah on sidelines of the inaugural Seven Wonders event
RAK Hospitality has acquired its fifth hotel property in Ras Al Khaimah and will launch a new 70-key mountain eco-lodge early next year, as the government-owned company accelerates its hospitality expansion in the northern emirate.
Chief Operating Officer Donald Bremmer told Arabian Business in an interview on Thursday that the company has appointed Mads Wolf, the former general manager of 25 Hours Dubai, to lead its new Mantis-branded mountain lodge development on Jebel Jais.
“We’ve just appointed the general manager. We’ll start getting our operational parts set up for bringing accommodation to the mountain,” Bremmer said, without disclosing investment figures for the new property.
Previously announced as a Mantis Hotel project, the eco-lodge will be the first substantial hospitality development on Jebel Jais mountain. According to Bremmer, it will create a “platform for building more eco-tourism-styled assets” on the mountain.
The company’s current portfolio includes the Pullman, Ritz Carlton Al Wadi Desert, Hilton Garden Inn, and Carlton hotels. Details of the fifth recently acquired property were not disclosed.
The expansion comes as RAK positions itself for significant tourism growth, targeting 3.5 million visitors by 2030. The emirate is also developing the region’s first casino as part of the Wynn Resorts project scheduled to open in Q1 2027.
Bremmer indicated that several additional hotel projects are in development.
“We are one of the partners in Wynn projects. So we are developing the Wynn and there is quite a lot of inventory that will be developed over the next few years on that island,” he said.
The company is also developing new tourism attractions on Jebel Jais, including what Bremmer claims will be one of the world’s top five paragliding destinations.
“We’ve got some of the world’s best managers, developers of paragliding… because of the uplifts and because we’ve got 360-day season,” he said.
Bremmer’s comments came during the launch of ‘Seven Wonders,’ a new events platform that will host seven major events across seven weeks in late 2025. The concept debuted Thursday with a performance by DJ Armin van Buuren at the Ritz-Carlton Al Wadi Desert.
